The first Found Fridays for the new year

a vase that when I saw it had my sisters name all over it - or the next best thing: pink and green flowers, seen here along some flowers I found on a walk - her favourite hydrangeas which sadly didn't make it until I could give her both.

And the other great finds of the week - his and hers needlepoints although if truth be told we both like both of them. I can't wait to find a space for them in the unofficial needlepoint gallery our garage/office/workshop has become.

Appreciate or Emulate - Participate

The last of the weeks love fest with the combo that IS! - stripes and florals

I was having so much fun with this combination - in case you couldn't tell - that I had to join in.

I picked up this skirt from the op-shop the other day and with no shortage of stripes in the wardrobe here I am dressed for a lunch date with my mum and sister - perfect excuse for a new skirt.

I also fancied dressing up the house so I grabbed a $2 'vase' (aka a ceramic toothbrush holder) from a variety store then some black electric tape and a $5 bunch of fruit shop snapdragons later and these are prettying up our house right now

So there you have it my love affair with stripes and florals comes to an end, on the blog anyway, because I don't think I will ever tire of this perfect match for me or my home.

Appreciate or Emulate - Celebrate

Continuing on from this weeks Finding Everywhere theme, Stripes and Flowers, how to celebrate with this pattern perfect match.

I am in love with the stripes and floral combo for a party - bold and bright and festive.
Add a bit of gold or silver tableware bling and it's a classic soirée setting.

In last weeks Finding Everywhere I showed just some of the graphic and pretty stripey meets floral items I am noticing all about town for spring/summer.

I am a huge fan of a pattern mix, especially a bold one and this has to be a favourite of mine.

Found Friday

A little collection of finds to shine on you this Friday.

I had a day of finding a week or so ago where I found little jugs everywhere I went. Abandoned by their tea sets who'd long since moved on they are now part of a new family of sorts. On the same day I found this metallic splatter pattern contact - oh the shiny possibilities of covering things, perhaps old school book style. Last but not least today I got an opportunity  after a busy week, to take a leisurely weed walk and gather these pretties and make them shine like flowers. I am now finding farmers friends everywhere - but it's worth it.

THIS WEEKS FINDS

A weed walk, as I like to call them, hunting and gathering for little botanical gems in the neighbourhood, on verges and in parking lots, yielded these beauties among others.
Happy colours for the home.

A lucky preschool drop off find on the path outside the school heralded what was to be a great day - first day no tears! These blossoms were a sign of my little mans blossoming confidence.

I found this bag on uncovet this week and I indeed did want to uncovet it and have it for my own, as a new nappy bag - last time I bought the cheapest one I could and needless to say it lacked any style or longevity - this time I want some happy nappies. The find turned into a forget me when I calculate a whopping $70 US for shipping. But then I found this little big guy at a local shop on sale for half the price and no shipping - it's similar enough for me for now - happy nappies and happy me!

Lastly this is a little rediscovery rather than a find - I was hunting down ceramics for the Instagram comp I was playing this week - another post on that pending - when I refound these little pineapple shakers I bought out op-shopping a few months ago. You may recall my love of the pine form from a post I did way back in the very beginning of blogging days Pining for the tropics well it hasn't abated - and just look at them how could it?

I hope your discoveries are as exotic and bright this weekend as mine has been this week.

Found Friday

Twinkle twinkle little vase - this weeks findings may be few and some small but they delight me none the less for their muted, textural and patterned beauty.

This crystal round vase is only about 15cm high but is perfect for a tea light or two and a pretty posy found and picked in the garden

This marble effect mini (so hot right now - more on that coming soon) vase is only 5cm, if that, but what a big personality in a little package.

This frayed edge hand stitched beauty is all the nicer all crumpled up and yellowed by time

I am finding time this weekend and next week to hang with my nephews who are in town on a holiday with my mum - should be a great time. I hope you have a lovely weekend too.

Finding Weeds as good as flowers

I mentioned in yesterday's Found Friday that I had been weed gathering again but time and daylight escaped me to show you so I thought I would share the little weed arrangements with you this morning - I also picked up the stick you see because of the most beautiful delicate and lovely shade of green moss on it. I find them as interesting and beautiful as many flowers I hope you do too.

I did some good finding this week - unfortunately I haven't managed to capture it all here to show you as I have assignments due and a little person who decided that he didn't need sleep today - ah well an excuse to show you more over the next week/s. In fact a lot of my findings are things for me to wear - spring things - spots and stripes and silk and clogs - bring on spring - so I will have to wear them and show you that way - come on warmer weather you're almost here.

Here are the finding highlights of the week.

Number one is this needlepoint - yes I am obsessed but this might well be the best yet. It caught my eye immediately then I was excited as I am planning a woodlands themed bedroom for the little man when he changes rooms after the renovation (I keep talking about it but it will happen - plans to show you soon if I get my act together and find time instead of needlepoints). After consideration though he might not get it and he may have to share it with us somewhere more prominent as I like it soooo much.

Orange floral pillowcases - these add the zing to the bed I was looking for. I also found 2 of them in pink but that may be a step too far in the girly direction for a room I share with the fella.

I have gathered quite a few of these Nana style coat hangers and I am mad for Poly knit (at least I think that's what it's called and I found a whole bag of it in neon colours a while ago and have a project in mind for it I hope to share with you soon) This though is a very fine example indeed.

Gingham and cross stitch - was there a better match ever made? Yellow and black tablecloth in the aforementioned 'love in' combo needing an iron and a tea party on my dining table.

A favourite find, and one that has been a while in the finding, is this little yellow table - you may recall when I found these little yellow chairs pictured with it, part of a Found Friday all the way back in March - proof that persistence and obsessive op shopping do pay off. I am still in 2 minds about painting part of the top in chalk paint - maybe as a cross pattern so there are 4 segments - and maybe a colour not black hmmm?? I will let you know - I do know that it is already a hit.
